Crisostomo Ibarra and Padre Damaso, in the modern society.

And Again, the country is suffering from Social Cancer.

I just saw this video from FreeThinkers and I'll say this is actual and very true. I'll share my thoughts later on this post. First, let's have a small description of what Pro-Life and Pro-Choice parties are supporting.

Pro-life describes the political and ethical opposition to elective abortion, and support for its legal prohibition or restriction. Those involved in the pro-life movement generally maintain that human fetuses and, in most cases, embryos are persons, and therefore have a right to life. On the issue of abortion, pro-life campaigners are opposed by pro-choice campaigners, who generally advocate for women's reproductive rights.

Pro-choice describes the political and ethical view that a woman should have the choice to continue or terminate a pregnancy. This entails the guarantee of reproductive rights, including access to sexual education, to safe and legal abortion, and to contraception and fertility treatments. Individuals and organizations who support these positions make up the pro-choice movement.

My country-- Philippines, is an extreme conservative Catholic country (oh not really, c'mon. I've much more conservative countries.). The battle between two parties are still very rigid and quite a delicate issue to be brought up that only the mature and old enough citizens are willing to engage in such subject. And since, I will admit that majority of the Filipino did not undergo proper education (I've witnessed how public schools are run here and it is really a pitiful welfare.) I doubt that most masses will address the issue open mindedly especially when the Church are brainwashing the less educated people. I AM NOT GENERALIZING CATHOLIC CHURCHES-- But I do have witnessed some who do brainwashing. How? You'll later see in this topic, please continue reading.

The RH Bill (the bill that these parties are battling over) is the House Bill No. 5043 (Reproductive Health and Population Development Act of 2008) is AN ACT PROVIDING FOR A NATIONAL POLICY ON REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD AND POPULATION DEVELOPMENT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. Click this Link to see the full context of this bill.

On the other side-- I have nothing against the Pro-Life parties, infact I am anti-abortion too. BUT The PRO-LIFE party here is against the RH bill because they claim that is it about murdering and disrespecting the fetal rights. They say it is an act of killing, they say it legalizes abortion When in FACT IS NOT what the RH Bill is about, I think they should read it all over again and contemplate on it. THE RH BILL DOES NOT SUPPORT ABORTION. It prevents abortion and will educate people of being responsible of handling such.

here are some examples and in the exact context of the RH Bill that states that it does not support abortion clearly:

SECTION 3

Guiding Principles. – This Act declares the following as basic guiding principles:

m. While nothing in this Act changes the law on abortion, as abortion remains a crime and is punishable, the government shall ensure that women seeking care for post-abortion complications shall be treated and counseled in a humane, non-judgmental and compassionate manner.

SECTION 4

g. Reproductive Health Care

4. Prevention of abortion and management of post-abortion complications;

7. Elimination of violence against women;

12. Reproductive health education for the youth.

I think that the RH bill is needed in our country because I can see a lot of jobless parents having dozens of children and then their kids are on the streets begging for loose coins, and these children sometimes die without reaching adulthood. This law, will implement family planning and educate people by using the natural methods or contraceptives. And again, abortion is not a contraceptive method if I have to say that again to the Church here. The bill mentioned post-abortion complications which refers to miscarriage or in medical terms-- spontaneous abortion. These are unwanted abortions that happens to a pregnant woman from conception up to her second trimester. 15% of miscarriages happen during their second term and these needs medical attention and management for there may be fetal tissues left that can lead to infection and a sure death of the bearer.

The RH Bill is a solution to the over population, and the spread of diseases in our Country. It empowers women's right and equality just like the law in the states  The FMLA of Family and Medical Leave Act of 1933 and The Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 That prohibits discrimination based on pregnancy and additional protection against discrimination.

These following images are from the leaflets that the church is giving away. And be ready to laugh with what they have to say. (Click to enlarge)

The church is saying that the RH Bill will lead to death. I wonder in which terms? when I've read the Bill it actually aids people in nurturing the newborn and educating the people and giving them protection from violence..

They say that contraceptives causes abnormalities and dangers the health. How the hell will condoms cause abnormalities? It does not interfere with the genetic construction of an embyro. And beside, the RH bill also stated that the couple or any individual MAY CHOOSE what form of contraceptive he/she will use may it be artificial or the natural methods

They say the use of contraceptive such as condoms causes cancer, heart attack and stroke. I really hope they have a universal based study and statistical data to support that because condoms were initially created to prevent one from infecting and being infected. And what does a condom have to do with heart attack and stroke? err...heart attack from extreme pleasure? lol.

They say contraceptives causes psychological disorders. I don't think so-- and if it does that's why there is a Reproductive Health education to educate people about sex, their health, and their life. The bill will just enlighten the people but the choice is still with the people.

I am a Catholic myself, and having attended a few Mass, I've witnessed myself how they address the RH Bill with lies. Once I have heard the priest here say --"If you are having intercourse with a man wearing condoms you are like having sex with the devil". That was an eye-popper for me and I tried my best not to laugh. I guess that was the last day I attended the Catholic church. Sometimes, they exaggerate way too much than needed to the point that they Lie, and they brainwash. But please before you react-- again, I AM NOT GENERALIZING THE WHOLE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY. I just stated a church that I have been in.

Now about the video I shared, the people who were RH Bill supporters were invited by church itself. They were handed pamphlets saying that "eveyone is cordially invited" to hear what the church has to say about the RH Bill. Even though they were obviously wearing DAMASO tshirts (that indicates you are an RH Bill supporter.) So when they went there, they were stopped and a Lady which was the executive director of Pro-Life Philippines Miss Marita Wasan told them that they could wait outside until the mass was over and they will let them inside because they are open for conversation. Oddly the church was tightly closed because the priest didn't want them to hear what he was preaching about. funny eh? Then they followed and waited patiently and silenty. Not protesting or doing any scandals. And then later, Mr. Eric Manalang comes and yells at them to go away, with other people brushing them off and even randomly dodging the cameras. I think it is them who needs to be educated about the RH bill and to be taught proper manners too. They are so dark ages and medieval.

Eric Manalang tells them that they are Satan and their mothers should have aborted them. "You tell your mother to Abort you" was the exact line. Ironic for a man who is against abortion isn't it? Eric Manalang who said that line is the President of the Pro-Life Philippines by the way. Really Ironic.
